~ William Afton congratulating Vanessa for luring the Missing Children to him. |
Vanessa, better known as Vanny, was a major character in the 2024 video game Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit, the adaptation of the Fazbear Frights book of the same name.
She was originally meant to be the main protagonist of the minigame sections, which depicted her helping William Afton in his most infamous killing spree: the Missing Children Incident. She was subsequently replaced by a boy with black hair and Millie following her removal, and the minigames became loose adaptations of other Fazbear Frights stories instead of reenacting the Missing Children Incident.
Biography[]
Lead Them[]

Purple Guy's sprite, as seen in the Lead Them minigame.
In June 26th, 1985, William Afton commands Vanny to lure children to the Party Room. After roaming around the restaurant dressed in her own white rabbit suit, Vanny succesfully lures them all six of them into the Party Room. William praises her by calling her a "good girl," and implicitly kills the children. In the game files, it's seen that Vanny has a mental breakdown after helping William.
This minigame was replaced by the Fetch minigame in the final release.
Put Them Back Together[]
In the aftermath of the MCI, Vanny is tasked to rebuild all four main animatronics for unknown reasons. After rebuilding Freddy, Bonnie, and Foxy, a corpse of a child suddenly appears in the room after she's done rebuilding Chica. Vanny brings the corpse to her, causing Chica to malfunction and glitch out. It's implied that Vanny stuffed the rest of the Missing Children inside the animatronics.
This minigame was replaced by the To Be Beautiful minigame in the final release.
Party Cleanup[]
Vanessa cleans up the Party Room from various objects, including pizza slices and cupcakes left over from birthday parties. After cleaning up from the items four times, she comes across a "mess" (likely a corpse or another incriminating evidence), and cleans it up for William.
This minigame was replaced by the Count the Ways minigame in the final release.
Don't Let Them Escape/Guard Duty[]
This minigame would have been triggered by interacting with The Stitchwraith's apparition outside of Oswald's school.
Likely taking place after the Put Them Back Together minigame, Vanny has to give candy to the animatronics as they become more and more enraged, symbolized by them becoming more and more red. Eventually, Vanny grows tired and she comes to a halt. The playable minigame comes to an inconclusive end, leaving it unknown what happened next.
This is the only unused minigame to not have been replaced by any other in release.
Trivia[]
- Vanny was put into the game because MegaCat Studios thought that the 2023 film was canonical to the games. After Scott Cawthon's intervention, MegaCat Studios subsequently removed her and based the minigames around the other stories found in Into the Pit, the first entry of the Fazbear Frights novel series.
- Given how the Boy sprite is just a heavily modified Vanny sprite, it's likely that Millie's sprite is based on a unseen scrapped Vanessa sprite.
