The Great Hunger, also known as Mob C, was a type of Hostile Mob that was proposed to appear in the video game Minecraft.
History[]
In 2017, Mojang held a contest where people could vote on a new type of hostile mob to be added to the game.
Mob C, referred to by Jens "Jeb" Bergensten as the Great Hunger, would have been a cute, land-dwelling mob that would burrow into blocks and camouflage itself to look like said blocks. It would wait until a player, other mob, or item would appear above it, then burst from the ground and devour it. Jeb stated that it would have a particular fondness for enchantments, and would likely remove enchantments from items in the player's inventory when it attacks.
Despite a positive reception, the mob lost to Mob B, which would later go on to become Phantoms.
