Biography[]
Concept art for the Skull Army revealed early concepts for its various members: the winged Battle Bats; the Voodoo Brothers, twins linked by a chain; Skullpion, similar to the Skull Scorpio; Skull Crusher, similar to Skull Basher; and their combined form of Kulta Kal.
Having being combined, Skull Crusher would form the torso, Battle Bat would formed the wings, Voodoo Brothers formed the lower legs, and Skullpion formed the tail. Battle Bat’s blade and Skull Crusher’s “sprite head” hammer will form a giant skull hammer and Voodoo Brother’s gun/blade will form a giant shield.
Trivia[]
- Elements of this early lineup got used in the 2015 version.
- Skull Warriors replaced Battle Bats as the generics of the skull army, equipped with Rapid shooter and a ice spear.
- The green Voodoo Brother became the four-armed Skull Slicer, equipped with three hook blade and a chained claw seems to borrow from Battle Bats.
- Skullpion became Skull Scorpios and also somewhat inspired Lord of skull spiders.
- Skull Crusher became a similar but purple colored Skull Basher equipped with Hook axes, the concept of a skull villain come with a golden mask inspired Skull Grinder.
- Kulta Kal’s first name was used as the name of Skull Grinder as Kulta.
- Scorpion minions seems to be inspired Skull Spiders.
- A poly bag of a golden skull mask resembling Kulta Kal’s main head was released.
- in the bio of Skull Warrior’s merchandise description on Lego website described he could be combined with Skull Slicer and Skull Basher as a “multi-headed warrior”. While the combo model (known as Powered-Up Skull Warrior) had only one head. This seems to be a hint at Kulta Kal’s or this was the original plan for the Powered-Up Skull Warrior as he would have three heads instead of just merely one.
