
Saruman is a minor antagonist of an early version of the 2003 Academy Award winning film The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He was played by Christopher Lee.
History[]
Atop his tower, Saruman was talking to Gandalf about peace. He tried attacking Gandalf but his staff was broken. Grima eventually kills Saruman and his palantir falls into the water of Isengard.
Trivia[]
- His scene was cut from the theatrical version by Peter Jackson for slowing the pacing. It was restored for the 2004 extended edition DVD. Christopher Lee was disappointed that his scene was cut.
- In the original book, he died during the Scouring of the Shire.
