Roronoa Zoro is a major character in the manga One Piece. In the manga and anime, he is a major protagonist serving as Luffy's closest crewmate. However, he was originally planned to be a villain and a member of Buggy's crew.
Appearance[]
In comparison to how Zoro looks in his final design, he looks pretty similar. There are some noticable differences though. For starters, he only has one sword as opposed to three, and instead of a bandana, he wears a headband.
Biography[]
Zoro was initially meant to serve as Buggy's bodyguard as well as one of his most powerful crew members alongside Cabaji and Mohji with two animal companions in the form of Richie and Hachi.
Ultimately though, Oda decided to instead have Zoro be Luffy's companion instead of Buggy's while scrapping Hachi completely.
Not too much is known about what this version of Zoro would have been like as the only source of his existence is some concept art shared by Oda. As such, it is unknown what Zoro's personality would have been had Oda kept him as part of Buggy's crew, but if the sketch is any indication, Zoro would have still be skilled with a sword, though he looks like he would probably lack his three sword style.
