“ | The Ardoni… a species able to wield great powers: the Songs of War. Tell me, what benefit are these powers when still you die the same? Power does not reside in a weapon. Ingressus believed the Prime Songs would give him strength- but look at how they have served you both. Let me tell you what real power is: power is an illusion, constructed in the minds of those who fear it. And I… am the most powerful of all | „ |
~ Pythus to Senn and Ria. |
King Pythus is the main antagonist in the unreleased seasons of Songs of War, serving as a minor antagonist in Season 1 before becoming the main antagonist in Seasons 2 and 3.
He became the tyrannical King of the Nether after killing his father, King Chronos. Many years later, he forms an alliance with the Voltaris Clan to start the Second Great War before backstabbing them and nearly wiping them all out.
He serves as the arch-nemesis of Ingressus Voltaris and his brother, Vulcannus.
Personality[]
While Ingressus is calm and composed, always knowing what to say, Pythus is much different. He is aggressive and overly unhinged, he is willing to take his frustrations out on anyone even his own men. This can be seen in one scene where Pythus learns of Felden's rebellion and he punches one of his Wither Skeletons in frustration.
Pythus, while displaying clear signs of strength, still shows significant fear. This is apparent when Ingressus expresses frustration at Pythus for not keeping his end of the deal in helping Ingressus obtain the Prime Songs. Ingressus reached for his sword causing Pythus to back down in fear. Pythus also expresses fear when he sees that Vulcannus wields both the End and Nether Swords and when Ingressus manages to rampage through the Nether troops to fight him.
Pythus, being a tyrannical king, shows he was not fit to lead his people. He killed his father in frustration over the defeat in the First Great War, and lead the Nether down a dark path. When Vulcannus wielded the End and Nether Sword, that implied that he was the rightful King of the Nether, which showed that Pythus was not worthy to be a king.
Trivia[]
- His name was discovered when series creator David R. B published the SOW ASSET PACK.
- His small appearances in Season 1 foreshadowed his much larger presence in the coming seasons. This especially applies to Abbigail's dream sequence, where Pythus slowly approached her, spreading the Nether into the End.
- Since he had no lines in Season 1, it is unknown who would have voiced him.
