“ | Your kind left the Planet of Hands many thousands of years ago. It has sat empty, a gap in our perfection, reminding us not of what we are missing, but of the joyous return that our prodigal mothers and fathers will soon make. There are limits to our abilities. We cannot simply travel to where you have chosen to exile yourselves. [...] All of you, I make this promise to, from the hearts of all of us at the center of the nine points. You will come back of your own free will. We will not need to show you how, for the knowledge already rests within you. We will not need to explain why. You have seen the terrors that lurk outside of our protection. We will merely need to show you who we are. Who you are. Who all of us are. We will all be so much happier soon. Tomorrow shall be the greatest expression of our love we have ever conducted. | „ |
~ Past and Future's thinly veiled threat while adressing O5-2, just before the arrival of the Man at the Threshold. |
“ | She hears it too. The terror of something impending, building within her at Aurelio's words, now seizes her. The madness lives in his heart. It lives in all of our hearts, decaying every system they touch, even from our living tomb in the stars. They will never outrun it because we are they and they are us. | „ |
~ The narrator of "Casa de Jacinta / Jacinta de la Casa" about the inevitable demise of Past and Future. |
Past and Future were major antagonists in the SCP Foundation series, serving as the main antagonists of Kalinin's SCP-001 proposal and the associated series. It is a powerful, post-human dystopia in which the inhabitants of the lower classes are endlessly tortured, and are actively seeking to reclaim humanity, who were once enslaved by Past and Future.
History[]
Past and Future is a member or number of numbers of an alien race - actually hyper-evolved humans - that have twisted moral values. They built themselves into perfect beings, out of others' suffering. How they came to be, and why is their society axed around suffering, is unknown. Nonetheless, they became an extremely powerful species, able to twist the laws of physics and causality to their leisure.
Humans were one of the races they endlessly tortured for eons, but a long time ago, humans revolted and fled to our current planet, Earth. The race's goal is to return humans to their original position, on one of their planets known as "The Planet of Hands", in which humans will be turned back into mutilated slaves. However, Past and Future wants, for some reason, to have humans willingly return to the Planet of Hands, instead of launching a full-scale invasion. Past and Future's motives for doing so are ambiguous, but they claim it is out of "love".
To this end, Past and Future have created and unleashed anomalies, known as SCPs, to make life so unbearable, that humans would have no choice but to accept Past and Future's offer should they want to live, at least for a short while.
Discovering Earth[]
To counter Past and Future, the SCP Foundation has created a forcefield protecting Earth from SCP-001's influence, but after it ceased to function, Past and Future were finally able to find our planet and immediately began to wreak havoc. The day following the forcefield's cessation, Past and Future, as a display of force, altered hundreds of SCPs, turning them much more dangerous and causing catastrophic containment breaches, which resulted in several Foundation's sites being wiped clean out of the map, as well as thousands of casualties.
Past and Future was all too aware of the Foundation's involvement in opposing them, and so in "Standard Dream Report 66-Y 990.2", Past and Future crucified SCP-990 and used his powers to send an ultimatum to O5-2 (one of the leading members of the Foundation), appearing as her dead child to emotionally torture her, driving her to commit suicide. Past and Future made it clear that they would soon reveal themselves to the rest of humanity and repatriate all humans to their rightful place.
In the penultimate chapter of Kalinin's proposal, "The Man at the Threshold", an SCP-001 entity known as the Man appeared in Egypt and began a twisted play, with our entire planet as the stage, involving him and several other such entities, with the goal to explain to humanity SCP-001's philosophy. While doing so, the Man caused worldwide chaos, resulting in thousands of casualties across the world and global upheaval, with the Foundation powerless to do anything. Before leaving, he opens several portals leading to the Planet of Hands, and thousands of people wracked with insanity, willingly went in, followed by many more in the following days.
Fate[]
In "Casa de Jacinta / Jacinta de la Casa", it is also revealed that global society is now in disarray, with many humans (if not most of humanity) having willingly joined the Planet of Hands to escape the increasingly dangerous SCPs. The SCP Foundation itself is but a shadow of its former self, with most of its agents killed in the worldwide chaos caused by Past and Future.
SCP-001's ideals as outlined in their play "The Man at the Threshold" are one of the "condemned ideas" housed within the tower known as SCP-2303, guarded by MTF Phi-9 under the command of Aurelio Rojas. One of the Foundation's remaining agents, Rojas, attempts to detonate SCP-2303 with explosives but is stopped by an avatar of SCP-001, named Monashir, who crushes the detonator and gloats that they already knew about the explosives and nothing Aurelio does will make any difference. Aurelio replies that if that were true they would not be trying to stop him and taunts them that everything they've done to keep their society going is futile and all they've achieved is blinding themselves to the reality that they will eventually fall. Angered, Monashir smashes to a pulp Aurelio, killing him, only to find that he has a dead man's switch attached to him. SCP-2303 and the "Man at the Threshold" play are destroyed, apparently killing one of SCP-001's manifestations and thus rejecting their beliefs.
Thus, SCP-001's perfection has been heavily tainted, and whether it's in a year or a million years, SCP-001 will not be able to escape the decay of their perfect ideology, with unspecified but assuredly disastrous consequences for Past and Future.
Project Isorropía[]
Note: while there is no standard canon in the SCP universe, the canonicity of Project Isorropía, in respect to Kalinin's canon and Past and Future's ending, is dubious at best.
Following the success of the cross-testing of anomalies at Site-100, SCP-001-KLN (Past and Future) came into contact with SCP-001 (Scka's Proposal), a virulent manifestation of high-powered cosmic storms capable of widespread destruction across the universe which previously was targeting Earth. The two SCP-001s began battling each other, with SCP-001-KLN preventing SCP-001-SKA from consuming Earth, while SCP-001-SKA tried to consume the satellite planets created by SCP-001-KLN, thereby weakening its influence on Earth.
Powers and Abilities[]
Past and Future is an immensely powerful SCP, easily ranking amongst the most dangerous of the Foundation's foes and are capable of feats that are nothing short of "magic". Although the Foundation has faced many reality-warpers, most of them are nothing when compared to SCP-001. They possess such knowledge that they are able to pretty much ignore the laws of physics at their leisure and can create anomalous entities through completely unknown means (even evading the Foundation's knowledge on esoteric and the like). The SCPs it created before its arrival were but a fraction of its true power, as shown when the Foundation's forcefield finally gave up and SCP-001 initiated a deadly display of force by ramping up the severity of most of its creation. They can affect the entire observable universe and may pose a threat to other extraterrestrial civilizations, although SCP-001 is primarily interested in our planet.
SCP-001's entities are all highly intelligent and sophisticated and can project themselves on our planet, rendering them invulnerable to any conventional weapon, although they can still affect their surroundings. Thus, they are nearly invulnerable, and the Foundation was only able to defeat one such entity by playing a clever trick on it (even then, it might have been just a hologram).
SCP-001 has few weaknesses, that are mostly self-imposed. For instance, their overconfidence has rendered them short-sighted, and unable to see through the clever deception of their enemies, which resulted n their stronghold on Earth destroyed by the remaining human resistance. More generally, SCP-001 is heavily dependent on their belief system, and any blow to its supposed perfection is guaranteed to result in a catastrophic unraveling of their society, as hinted by the narrator.

Trivia[]
- In SCP-6659, it is hinted that Past and Future is the same being as or at least connected to SCP-3125.
