~ Monstrox in a commercial for the 2018 update of LEGO Nexo Knights: Merlok 2.0. |
Monstrox is the main antagonist of the Nexo Knights series. Had the series not been cancelled, he would appear in its fifth season, and presumably the sixth one as well, having taken the form of a digital virus.
He would be voiced by Mark Oliver.
Biography[]
Past[]
The cancelled seasons would reveal that in the past, Monstrox attacked one of his colleagues, Count Dragov, for attempting to create "Technomancy", a fusion of technology and magic that was meant to assist the people of Knighton, as that would go against the necromancer's plan to conquer the kingdom. He disguised himself as Merlok, went into Dragov's castle and drained him and his children of their magic.
Coming of the Technomancer[]
After his defeat in "The Fall", Monstrox's heart was taken by Ruina Stoneheart. In the Season 5 premiere, she would have had several captive Squirebots construct a platform out of stolen technology and placed the heart on it, resurrecting the necromancer as a digital virus. Monstrox would take time to adjust to his new form, and then realize that he was able to infect Squirebots with his dark magic, turning them into CyberByters.
Monstrox and Ruina would go on to visit Dragov's castle, wake the disgraced count from his sleep and offer him to get revenge on Merlok, which he, still unaware of Monstrox's treachery, would agree to. Monstrox would then turn Dragov and his children into cyborgs to restore their strength. Eventually, the group would ambush the Nexo Knigths and Merlok 2.0, still in his Mechlock body. During the battle, Monstrox would send his robotic critters to drain the Nexo Powers out of Merlok, and later upload them to the vampires, causing the tide of battle to turn in villains' favor and Merlok to sacrifice himself by splitting himself into seven Merlok Powers. The heroes would retreat with one Merlok Power in tow, leaving villains to gloat in their victory.
Monstrox would continue to fight the Nexo Knights over the course of the seasons. His ultimate fate is unknown, but Tommy Andreasen's notes for one of his concept arts and an interview given by him to the DuckBricks channel suggest that the necromancer would have been successful in conquering most of Knighton, if not all of it, sending the knigths on the run, and taking King Halbert prisoner. He would also create JestroBot as a replacement for the real Jestro.
