Mariko Kurama is an overarching antagonist in the Elfen Lied Anime.

However she has an different history here than the final Anime version with similar but different history and actions.

History

Her leaving to find Nana is more early than the final version.

Though differences are when it got to the scene on the bridge she would end up attacking Kurama unknowingly aware he is her own father only for Nana to stop her. When Kouta arrived on the scene Nana warned him but fail to understand and when he tried to ask Mariko questions only to be attacked by her vectors only for Nana to protect him and when she tried again Nyu became Lucy where fight played out with her vectors disabled in the end.

After being annoyed she would be called back into field once her vectors recovered where she would be sent to the Maple Inn due to Director Kakuzawa discovering Lucy’s attachment to them in this one and would play out similar to final Anime of battling Lucy and Nana which lead to an cliffside before Kurama clams both down but she ends up protecting her own father from the explosion where it would allow him to foil Kakuzawa.
