The Killer Rabbids (Later known as Killer Freaks) are a species of genocidal reptilian lagomorphs that originated in the cancelled 2012 video game Killer Freaks From Outer Space which would later become ZombiU. Despite the original game's cancellation, the Freaks are only seen as easter eggs in ZombiU.
History[]
Not much known is about them, but in the early plot as Killer Rabbids From Outer Space they were originally a cousin of the Rabbids that would be more chaotic and more savage than their cartoon counterparts where they begin their world domination on a post-apocalyptic Earth and will not hesitate to kill any human they encountered. Unlike the Rabbids, the Killer Rabbids are not from the Glade of Dreams and have a more vicious appearance in their character.
The idea was later rejected and instead turned into Killer Freaks, but the developers were still not interested as the game would be changed to ZombiU as a zombie outbreak instead of an alien invasion.
Types of Killer Freaks[]
Freak Basic Trooper[]
The Basic Troopers are the standard Freaks that are most common types in the game and they also come in packs or alone. Chaotic and vicious, they would not hesitate to attack the player. They are also known to surround and ambush the player. At one point, one of them can be seen spanking another Basic Trooper, implying that they have sexual intentions with one another. They are also the only variants to be seen in the gameplay.
Freak Shield Trooper[]
The Shield Trooper are Freak enemies that are seen as a bigger variant of a Freak. They will produce their shields to deflect the bullets the player shoots at to defend themselves and will use their whip to attack the player.
Freak Crawlers[]
The Crawlers are the smallest crawling squid-like variant of the Freak enemies. They are the possible juvenile stage of the Freaks but will still attack when they crawl towards the player.
Freak Slashers[]
The Slashers are one of the variants of the Freaks. They have a more reptile-like appearance with one eye, a bump on their chests and blade-like hands. They would be presumably more intelligent on hunting and killing the player if they are to be underestimated.
Freak Suicider[]
The Suiciders are a variant of the Freaks that are similar to the Basic Troopers. Despite their similarity, the difference is they have blisters on the end of their tails and may explode on the player presumably if taken enough damage or too close to the player.
Freak Pilot[]
The Pilots are one of the variants of the Freaks. They are known to be the ones responsible for using the Tripods to destroy everything in their path and send many Freaks to massacre the humans in their path of conquest.
Giant Freak[]
The Giant Freaks are a huge kaiju-like variant of the Freak and presumably leaders of the Freaks. Two is seen in in two concept arts with one of them leading the Freaks against the human forces.
Freaks' War Machines[]
Freak Saucer[]
The Freaks use their saucers to pursue the humans. They can shoot projectiles at any human they target with some of them seen in the concept art in one in the concept art with the original title shooting out projectiles and another supporting a Giant Freak.
Tripod[]
The Tripods are war machines manufactured by the Freaks and operated by each Pilot inside one. They are designed to travel around Earth to destroy everything in their path such as London as well as carrying numerous Freaks inside.
Gate Cannon[]
The Gate Cannons are type of cannons created and utilized by the Freaks. They are designed to keep the humans off their territory but will be destroyed if taken damage. One was seen shooting at the player in the E3 demo until it was destroyed by the player shooting at it. At one point, one Gate Cannon will leave an explosive launcher that will not only destroy a pack of Freaks but also destroy a building to reveal more of them hidden.
