Ingressus Voltaris, also known as Deathsinger, is a major character in the animated web series Songs of War. Despite being the main antagonist in Season 1, scripts of the two unreleased seasons show that he would have redeemed himself in the finale.
He is the arch-nemesis of Achillian Nestoris and Pythus.
Biography[]
He is a Voltaris master who perpetrated both the Great War and the Second Great War of Ardonia. His brutal methods and warmongering tendencies painted him as one of the most notorious figures in Ardonian history, being often considered as the boogeyman of the Ardoni.
While Ingresseus caused two of the most deadly conflicts in Ardonian history, it is later revealed that he was corrupted by the Prime Songs' power and ultimately just wanted his Clan to thrive due to how the other Ardonian Clans massacred Voltaris yearly for their practice of dangerous magic and paint them as the villains. He later passed away after slaying Pythus, the tyrant of the Nether who continued the Second Great War for power. His death led to the end of the pure blood Voltaris, though his wish of the revival and survival of the Voltaris Clan would be fulfilled by Senn.
Personality[]
Ingressus is calm and composed, keeping a somewhat stoic demeanor when he's talking to other characters such as when trying to forge an alliance with Pythus and when he is explaining the story of his clan to Senn. He has also shown to be a skillful leader, as he explains to Senn, he knows how to balance fear and respect. He is able to get fear from his men like when he scolds them for being unprepared for his arrival while they also respect him as their leader. Many of the Voltaris Clan follow and support Ingressus, even if they don't agree with his methods. Ingressus is often great at convincing and manipulating others, such as when he manipulated various humans to his cause.
However, in the end Ingresseus just wanted to redeem his Clan and show them that they weren't all evil. One of the primary reasons to him stealing the Prime Songs is the fear that the other Clans would use them against the Voltaris. Ingresseus also deeply cared about his closest friend, Achillean, viewing him as a brother. He also showed regret and sympathy after he had killed Achillean.
Trivia[]
- He is one of the only major antagonists in Songs of War whose motives are not based on selfish desires, such as Jalkar Bowmani who only did thinks for the money.
