Huaca was intended to be a supporting antagonist in the unmade Disney animated feature Kingdom of the Sun. He was a talking talisman who ended up siding with Yzma on her plot to summon Supai to destroy the sun after getting fed up with Emperor Manco's behavior. The film was later tweaked into The Emperor's New Groove, and Yzma was reused, but Hucua wasn't kept and his role as the Emperor's advisor was given to Yzma instead. The history of the unreleased film would later be detailed in the 2002 documentary The Sweatbox.
He was intended to be voiced by Harvey Fierstein.
Biography[]
Huaca would have been a talking talisman who was carved from the ancient Viracocha magical stone of the sacred mountain at the beginning of time. Since then, Hucua had been the counselor and protector of every Emperor of the Incan Empire since its establishment. Hucua's job consisted on running the palace and offering advice to the Emperors.
While the original draft for Kingdom of the Sun had Huaca helping Pacha impersonating Emperor Manco to protect him and then helped the heroes to defeat Yzma and Supai, later alterations to the story turned Hucua from a comic relief sidekick into a treacherous minion who switches sides with Yzma after getting fed up that Emperor Manco belittles and ignores him to help her summon Supai to destroy or block out the sun in exchange of eternal youth. However, their attempts result in Manco transforming into a llama and Pacha impersonating him.
Not much is known about Hucua, aside that he was going to be the film's comic relief alongside Mick, Bowie and Lemmy. It can be implied that Hucua would have been defeated at the end, possibly after Supai's destruction and Yzma's death.
