Ghost Godzilla also known as The Original Godzilla or 1954 Godzilla is planned for Godzilla vs. Ghost Godzilla, Godzilla vs. Godziruis, Godzilla vs. Baragerius and Godzilla vs. Chaos. He is the spirit of the original Godzilla killed by the Oxygen Destroyer.
Appearance[]
As a spirit Ghost Godzilla is a blue see through of it when it was alive missing legs and it’s tail from mock ups.
As Aurora Godzilla it was stated it be a transparent version of Godzilla colored like the Northern Lights.
After posssing Little Godzilla concept art show it growing into a reincarnation resembling mix between 1954 and Heisei Godzilla with white eyes, an evil grin and cracks due to the accelerated growth. Some drafts has him 80 meters while some others have him slightly taller than the 100 meter Heisei Godzilla.
Personality[]
Described in the drafts as "Pure Evil" Ghost Godzilla is filled with rage and vengeance towards human kind and it's buildings responsible for it's own death. He seeks to possess the second Godzilla to become an invincble god of destruction
About[]
Godzilla vs. Ghost Godzilla[]
In one draft it revealed the Oxygen Destroyer caused a 1000 year timeskip around the ocean which destroyed the original Godzilla's body but not his soul. An revised draft would have Godzilla killed by the Oxygen Destroyer normally rather than causing 1000 year timeskip but it wouldn’t be able to destroy his soul. Godzilla would have some leftover bones as it retconned him being completely destroyed.
The so called "bio energy" of Godzilla spread in Tokyo Bay but the energy slowly gathered until it all gathered in 1995 where it become a consciousness of living energy. Ghost Godzilla roamed where it was still alive finding it’s bones causing
Godzilla vs. Godziurus[]
Ghost Godzilla would have possessed Angeruius instead and battled Godzilla in a form mixed between the two kaiju.
Godzilla vs. Baraguirus[]
Ghost Godzilla would possess an cross between Baragon and Angerius named Barageruis (Though is confirmed no to be a fusion of the two kaiju) instead and battle the present Godzilla.
Godzilla vs. Chaos[]
Ghost Godzilla doesn’t have villainous role in this and is reduced to an MacGuffin instead, as the inter-dimensional monster Chaos fills that role who battle Godzilla and Little Godzilla over Ghost Godzilla’s super natural energy.
Bio-Godzilla[]
Ghost Godzilla would have had a more heroic role in this film teaming up with an adult Godzilla Junior (as this take place after Godzilla vs. Destoroyah) against an unknown foe. Ghost Godzilla wouldn’t need a vessel to fight and interact.
Why it was scrapped[]
Director Takao Okawara thought Godzilla fighting an doppelgänger of himself 3 times in a row as previous films had Mechagodzilla and Spacegodzilla would be too much. There other monsters like Bagan, Chaos, Bio Monster and Barubaroi which the latter won out before being reworked into Destoroyah in the what will become Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.
When Bio Godzilla was made Ghost Godzilla was considered one last time but when it’s writer died Ghost Godzilla was in the chopping block once and for all.
Trivia[]
- An early trailer for Godzilla 5 would indirectly reference Ghost Godzilla called an "Mysterious Enemy".
- The concept it would be reused though differently portrayed for GMK Godzilla and Kiryu as GMK Godzilla the restless spirits of World War II possessing an second Godzilla and the spirit of original Godzilla possesses Kiryu. Spacegodzilla in Godzilla Island also has a spiritual form that possessed Godzilla with glowing red eyes in the process and was forced out when defeated tried to enter a final form but still defeated.
- The title for Godzilla against Mechagodzilla has Godzilla against Godzilla before Mecha is added clearly referring the original unmade film.
- Ghost Godzilla is one of the few unmade kaiju alongside an earlier verison of Heisei Mechagodzilla to recieve his own merch sporting two Funko Pop figures.
- While an figure was proposed by NECA, Toho vetoed it.
