The Ender Dragon was set to be the main antagonist of A Minecraft Movie in its early stages of development. It is a malevolent beast that goes on a path of destruction in the Oveworld, with only a group of adventurers standing in its way.

Although several concept arts of the Ender Dragon and what appears to be its domain, The End, exist, little is known about its intended role. A 2019 Variety article mentioned that the dragon would have threatened the Overworld with destruction, with the main protagonist and her gang attempting to stop it. The information was later confirmed by the official Minecraft website.
Ender Dragon doesn't appear in the final script for the movie, with the Piglins, led by Malgosha, taking the role of antagonists.

- It's unknown if the Ender Dragon would have retained her name and gender in the movie.
- As Jared Hess has expressed interest in making a sequel to A Minecraft Movie and has said that unused ideas the filmmakers didn't get to use for the films could be used there instead, maybe the Ender Dragon may be one of those.
- The final cut of the movie includes the song "I Feel Alive" sung in-universe, where the Ender Dragon is mentioned as "one hell of a foe", possibly confirming that it exists in this continuity and that Steve has already encountered it.
