Otto Octavius, later known as Doctor Octopus, is the main antagonist of the film script Amazing Spider-Man, an earlier version of what would become Spider-Man 2.
He was a scientist who became a dangerous super villain and the second archenemy of Spider-Man. Unlike his incarnation in Spider-Man 2, this one has no sympathetic or redeemable qualities and turned into a greedy mad scientist willing to endanger countries around the world for profit and ego.
Like his finalized film, he was intended to be portrayed by Alfred Molina.

Otto Octavius was a colleague of Richard and Mary Parker. Together, the three worked on a device that could produce unlimited amounts of energy which could be used for mass destruction. Aware of the danger their work posed, the Parkers sabotaged it by removing the device's image refractor and locking it away in a vault, intending to hand it over to their son Peter once he'd come of age. In revenge, Octavius murdered his colleagues with a gun, and spent a decade and a half trying to recreate the refractor.
Amazing Spider-Man[]
After learning from Curt Connors that Dr. Octavius had a hand in neogenics research, Peter Parker paid him a visit. At first, Otto mistook the lad for his father Richard, then pretended to be moved to tears once he realized who the person really was. He told Peter that his parents were murdered by a Soviet agent codenamed "Black Hand", and offered to help him complete their machine to honor them. Peter brought him the image refractor as requested, and as soon as the scientist had it in his hands, he attempted to shoot Peter, revealing that he lied to him and that he was the one who murdered his parents. Peter leaped out of Otto's lab and onto the railway, where he was seemingly hit by an incoming train. In reality, he dodged the train, changed into his Spider-Man suit, and returned to the lab to stop Octavius. Their battle set the lab on fire and caused an explosion which seemingly killed Otto.
In reality, the evil scientist survived, but discovered, to his horror, that his mechanical tentacles had merged with his body. He escaped the hospital and retrieved the image refractor, offering to sell it to Harry Osborn for a good price. Harry pretended to agree, only to reveal the meeting to have been a setup to arrest Otto. Octavius escaped the FBI and began rampaging on the streets of New York City, attacking anyone he came across. Spider-Man eventually arrived to battle him, but had to let him escape in an attempt to save the mortally wounded Captain Stacy.
Otto Octavius - now nicknamed "Doctor Octopus" - eventually found another potential client, a foreign man who agreed to buy the image refractor, but made clear that his employers may use it to target a country, perhaps even the United States. As the purchase was about to happen, Doctor Octopus realized that Harry had switched the refractor for a fake. He attacked the Oscorp building during Harry's wedding to Stephanie in order to get his refractor back. Spider-Man leaped into battle to stop him, and chased the villain away. Dr. Octopus tried to escape on a helicopter with the "foreign man", but Spider-Man and a police chopper grabbed onto him. Spider-Man used an air conditioner to create a make-shift electric magnet, which ripped the villain's tentacles off, leaving him to be arrested for his crimes.
