Darth Revan Clone Wars

Revan's character model, based off of his Legends appearance.

Revan, more commonly known as Darth Revan, is a character from the Star Wars franchise. He was originally going to appear as a one-off overarching antagonist alongside Darth Bane in the third season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. However he was eventually cut from the episode.

History[]

Revan originated in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and made subsequent appearances in the game's sequels, tie-in books and other media. However in 2014 after the rebranding of the expanded universe into Star Wars: Legends, the character and his entire character history was erased from the main canon as with everything else related to the Old Republic multi media project.

The character was originally scripted to appear in the 17th episode of the third season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. "Ghosts of Mortis", which was the final episode of the Mortis story arc. Dave Filoni and creator George Lucas originally thought that an ancient Sith or two should be revealed as the guide to the Son of Mortis. However the scene and subplot was later cut from the episode as Filoni was apprehensive of the final result and it didn't fit in with Lucas' view of the force. The scene was later included in the Blu-ray release of the third season, with unfinished animation and a temp track voiceover.

The scene was set in the Well of the Dark Side on Mortis, where the Son confronted the dark side spirits about the recent death of his sister at his hands. The spirit voices tell him to embrace his pain and resentment, and when he questions their identities, giant apparitions of Darth Revan and Bane appear to him. With them proclaiming their intent to ensure the dark side's supremacy. Speaking of another's existence who will control the galaxy, the Son is warned by them that control over Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One, is the key to success.

Trivia[]

  • Despite all of Revan's character history being no longer canon, the character has been canonized by name in the book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary. This presumably means that a new version of Revan will appear in a future Star Wars project down the line.
