The Con Artists are minor antagonists in the script for Sonic: The Movie. They are a couple of Peruvian criminals who offer their assistance to Jimmy Hedgeman only to rob him instead.
Biography[]
To save his father from Paul Elleson's henchmen, Jimmy dresses up as him and books a flight to Peru. Once he arrives, the artists come up to him and offer to take him to the river by which he can get to the lake he searches for, and have him pay rental for a boat in advance. Although a street beggar warns Jimmy not to go to this "Godforsaken place", he doesn't hear him and gets into the artists' car.
On their way to the lake, the con artists keep up a conversation to distract Jimmy. Once they are at the river and Jimmy asks about the boat, the artists snatch his bagpack and knock the teen out before throwing him into the river. Jimmy manages to swim to the island, triggering his transformation into Sonic in the process, while the robbers presumably get away.
